Pasado Simple

Use:  Utilizamos el pasado simple para hablar de acciones que ocurren en el pasado

o   We went to Spain for our holidays.

o   They got home very late last night.

o   Something that happened again and again in the past:

o   When I was a boy I walked a mile to school every day.

o   Something that was true for some time in the past:

o   I lived abroad for ten years.

o   He enjoyed being a student.

o   She played a lot of tennis when she was younger.

o   We often use phrases with ago with the past tense:

o   I met my wife a long time ago.

Forma:

Affirmativa

Sujeto+ verbo in past simple (regular or irregular) + predicado

Regular verbs: en los verbos regulares, por norma general se añade -d/ ,- ed al verbo en infinitivo

Irregular verbs: En este caso, las tres formas son diferentes( Infinitivo, Pasado Simple y Participio de Pasado). Por lo que tendrás que aprendértelos de memoria y practicar para no equivocarte.

Examples:

o   When I was a girl, I played with my friends every day.

o   I watched a film on the TV last night.

o   I travelled to Valencia last month

Negative:

Subject (Sujeto)+ did not (didn’t)+ verb in infinitive + predicate

*Didn’t: expresa la oración en negative, por lo que no es necesario poner el verbo en pasado.

Examples:

o   They didn’t go to Spain this year.

o   We didn’t get home until very late last night.

o   I didn’t see you yesterday.

Interrogative:

Did+ subject+ verb in infinitive + predicate

Examples:

o   When did you meet your wife?

o   Where did you go for your holidays?

o   Did she play tennis when she was younger?
